Mount Zion History
1897 - 1907
- Formation of the Mount Zion Hospital Association "for the purpose of aiding the indigent sick without regard to race or creed, to be supported by the Jewish community," November 3, 1897.
- Fund raising and exploring possible sites, 1888-1897
- Opening of the temporary hospital at Hyde & Sutter streets and a clinic at 317 Stockton Street; the Ladies' Auxiliary Society formed, the Mount Zion Training School for Nurses opened, October 14, 1887.
- Dedication of the original building at 2311 Sutter Street, May 7, 1899.
- Growth and expansion of the hospital; first x-rays taken at Mount Zion, 1904
- Mount Zion survives the earthquake, April 18, 1906
