The Auxiliary at UCSF Medical Center at Mount Zion

Auxiliary Programs & Projects (partial)

Programs, projects, and funding are initiated by requests from Auxiliary members and departments at the UCSF Mount Zion Medical Center. A small sample of programs, projects and funds is illustrated below.

Love and Laughter

Love and Laughter - a renowned comedy event held annually over the past three years returned September 10, 2005.

UV Beads   UV Beads - UV-beaded bracelets are currently available for purchase at the Mount Zion Gift Shop. The bracelets turn color when exposed to UV rays to serve as a reminder to replenish sunscreen. Perfect for children and all sun worshippers! All proceeds benefit UCSF's Department of Dermatology.

Macy's Tree Lighting   Macy Christmas Lights - joint fundraising with UCSF and Macy's Christmas Tree Fund to sell 30,000 lights with proceeds to UCSF Children's Hospital Palliative Care Unit.

Friend to Friend Smiles Project - We help children afflicted with terminal illness such as cancer or leukemia. The project may grant wishes to any terminally ill child from ages 2 to 18. Many of the wishes are for trips to theme parks or a special day with a special someone, perhaps a celebrity or sports hero, a visit to a fine dining restaurant, or an overnight stay at a hotel, swimming with dolphins, behind the scene tour of zoos and aquariums, etc. The child's fondest wishes is only limited by the child's imagination. Providers will inform eligible parents and children of the program. Some of this year's granted wishes include a trip to Alcatraz, tickets to Stomp and The Producers (including backstage passes), a tour of Skywalker Ranch, and a behind-the-scenes-tour of the Monterey Bay Aquarium. We hope to expand the program to address the desires of patients coming from all over Northern California to undergo treatment here at UCSF's Mount Zion Campus.
