The Auxiliary at UCSF Medical Center at Mount Zion

"A caring community supporting services for healing"

Our mission is to promote the health and welfare of UCSF Medical Center at Mount Zion patients by providing financial support for programs and services to patients which would otherwise not be available.

The Auxiliary was founded in 1897 as a volunteer and philanthropic organization, serving as a major link between the hospital and the community. The purposes of the Auxiliary are to:

• Render service to all departments of the UCSF at Mount Zion Medical Center
• Assist in promoting the health and welfare of the hospital's patients through volunteerism, community relations and philanthropy
• Assist in the health needs of indigent patients
• Conduct such other activities as will support the mission of the hospital which is "healing, grounded in learning, and supported by acts of personal kindness."

The Auxiliary distributes money from Tribute Funds created through contributions made in honor or in memory of a family member or friend or by community philanthropists. In addition, the Auxiliary raises unrestricted funds through its fundraising efforts, including its membership and gift solicitations, fundraisers, Friend to Friend Specialty Gift Shop, and the Ruth Ann Rosenberg Gift Shop.

The Auxiliary's membership, projects and funds are the primary sources of financial support to provide essential patient services to the UCSF Medical Center. Direct participation, by joining the Auxiliary as a member, will greatly assist the Auxiliary's mission. The Auxiliary has IRS 501c3 status and all contributions are tax deductible. The Auxiliary has a venerable and valuable tradition which continues to thrive because of the donation of time and money in our community.
